Process for Youth
Applying as a Translator

Process and Certification
If a youth’s skills are proficient, or only need a small amount of assistance, for certification, we will prepare the youth and schedule a time for certification exam. Emerging Unidos will pay all certification fees. Once passed, the youth will be Nationally certified in bilingual literacy (reading, writing, and speaking).
Volunteering and Networking
After receiving certification, youth will be encouraged, but not required, to volunteer with us translating non-sensitive documents for the community. This will provide them the opportunity to practice and improve their written bilingual skills and interact with community organizations to further career prospects.

Submitting Text and Wait Time
After submission, our program coordinator will find an available certified youth translator. The text will be translated in a timely matter and then will be sent back to our coordinator to proof it for grammar and “meaning”.
Receiving Translated Materials
When finished, you will receive a link to pay for services followed by the translated text. They will then be invited to fill out a survey about their experience.

All revenue from our services go directly back into the program to empower more bilingual youth!
Prices of Translation Services
Our goal is to provide affordable translation services to provide experience to bilingual youth and equitable resources to our community. To reflect this mission we are intentionally delivering inexpensive translation services.
Our translations provide both interpretive translation and word translation to convey cohesive, understandable messages. We use both word count and “meaning” to estimate costs for clients. Please be mindful of this when requesting services.
In addition, this service is limited to translating promotional, non-postsecondary academic resources, and/or simple informational content. We cannot translate sensitive or technical information. Our services are first come first serve, on average will take 5-10 business days, and depend on the availability of our translators.
